Enjoy a warm welcome from Michele and Lisa.

Landlords Michele and Lisa Bucci, husband and wife have been the faces of The George and Dragon Ashbourne since November 2022, welcoming both locals and visiting tourists come rain or shine. Together, Michele and Lisa have over 25 years’ experience in the licensed trade and when the tenancy came up for The George and Dragon, it was just the move they’d been looking for knowing Ashbourne well and having many friends in the area.

Steeped in History

The George and Dragon is a Grade II listed building, with its important focal position at the corner of Ashbourne’s marketplace. It was built originally as a house in the late 18th century, but re-fronted in the late 19th century when it became a pub.

The marketplace dates back to medieval times and a reminder of this is still present today with The Francis Wright Memorial located directly outside The George and Dragon.

History has it that wheat was sold in front of the pub, as well as pigs, sheep, poultry and horses and cattle through-out the market square.
